There is no need to worry; we have some helpful tips to share
Selecting the proper place and process, as well as making sure the correct preparation and materials were used for the piercing in addition to providing proper aftercare instructions. Although it may seem like a lot of steps, there is no need to worry; we have some helpful tips to share.
The Proper Time to get Your Ears Pierced.
Some cultures may pierce the ears as soon as the baby is born while some prefer to wait until the child is slightly older. Regardless of what the age may be, the most important thing is properly caring for the piercing. If your children are old enough, parents may allow them to participate by instructing them the basics of proper aftercare procedures.
Ear Piercing Will Take Some Time to Heal
Avoid touching the piercing as much as possible and change the piercing stud to a regular hypoallergenic earring after 6 weeks from the date of piercing. In order for the wound to heal properly, we must follow proper aftercare instructions. Parents may set an easy goal for their children to achieve and prove that they are capable of doing a task continuously for a long period. Such as keeping their own bedroom nice and tidy for at least 2 months and in return they will be rewarded with their first pair of earrings.
Go to a Piercing Shop You Can Trust
Clean and reliable piercing shops with safe hygiene and gentle piercing process for your child’s sensitive skin would be a great option. Piercing studs should be pre-sterilized, nickel free or nickel safe under the US FDA’s recommendation. Some options are medical grade stainless steel or titanium.
To achieve the best results and faster piercing process, allowing the child to sit on the parent’s lap to make him/her feel safe and comfortable would be a great option if the child is frightened or nervous.
Aftercare is Important
As mentioned above, proper aftercare is important, meaning, keeping shampoo, soap and residues of other chemical products away from the ear piercings. After shampooing, the ear should be rinsed with water and always keep the newly pierced ears dry. Clasps must always be positioned in the notch of the earring post. Therefore make sure to check it after every aftercare procedure to allow adequate air circulation, thus accelerating the healing process.
